Amanda Bourgoin: Director of Softball

Amanda Bourgoin has officially been named the Director of Softball at Sluggers Training Facility. Amanda is the winningest Husson Softball Coach of All-Time with a winning percentage of .635. In 2008 and 2009 she was awarded the North Atlantic Coach of the Year Award.  Her Husson tenure as coach ranged from 2007 to 2013 where she complied a record of 188 - 108.  While at Husson, she coached the team to five consecutive North Atlantic Conference Championships and made five appearances at NCAA Regional Tournament. The team amassed an impressive 95-9 conference record from 2007-2013 under her leadership.

Amanda began her collegiate coaching career in 2004 as graduate assistant at Division II Wayne State College in Wayne, NE.  During her second season she was named the interim head coach and took the team to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament. As a player Amanda was a three year starting catcher for St. Bonaventure University, a Division I institution that competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Prior to St. Bonaventure, she played her freshman season at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. In 2000 the team won the Metro Atlantic Conference and was awarded an automatic bid to the NCAA regional tournament hosted by UCLA.

In addition to her many accolades Amanda has built contacts throughout the college softball community.  Countless former players have had many kind words for her as a coach and as a person. Amanda resides in Orrington with her husband Kevin, and their two sons Brendan and James.  Sluggers is very excited to have Amanda on board and know that this will be an incredible fit for our Softball program!

Rick Roberts: Pitching, Hitting and Fielding Coach


Rick has been coaching/playing softball for 40 years. For many years Rick pitched and coached in a fastpitch league in Los Angeles.  18 years ago Rick moved to Ellsworth from LA.  He began coaching a 16U summer league in 1998.  That same year he began as a volunteer coach at Ellsworth High School for Varsity Softball.  In 1998 he started doing pitching clinics in Ellsworth, and that has led to doing clinics for the entire downeast area including traveling weekly to the Machias area.  Rick became the Varsity Softball Coach for Ellsworth High School 10 years ago, but has resigned his post this year so that he can work with kids from all over the state of Maine.  Rick is currently teaching pitching for several Maine schools as well as working with hitters and fielders.  During his coaching career he has had the pleasure of watching many of his athletes continue their softball careers at the college level from Division 1 to Division 3.   Ricks students are as young as 8 years old, and some are still pitching in college.  Rick brings forth an extreme wealth of knowledge and we are elated to have him as our Lead Pitching Instructor in the Facility!!

Jennifer Plourde: Hitting and Fielding Coach

Jenn Plourde graduated from Husson University in 2010 with a degree in Physical Education. While at Husson, Jenn played Soccer and Basketball for the Lady Eagles. Her coaching career began before graduating from Husson University. In 2009 she began her coaching career as JV Softball coach at John Bapst Memorial High School. In 2010 she started coaching JV soccer and basketball. She was appointed head Softball coach at Old Town High School in 2012. That year the Coyotes won their first ever Eastern Maine Class B Championship title, and then State Championship title. In 2013 and 2015 Coach Plourde took her softball team to EPSN Spring Training, allowing them the opportunity of a lifetime. Coach Plourde was named PVC Coach of The Year in 2012 and 2013. The Coyotes have been PVC Champions in 2013, 2014, and 2015 under her tenure. In 2016 Coach Plourde led her team to win the first Class B Northern Maine Championship, as well as the schools 2nd State Championship in 2016.  Sluggers is extremely excited to have Coach Plourde join our staff and can't wait to see the product she helps put on the field!
