Rick has been coaching/playing softball for 40 years. For many years Rick pitched and coached in a fastpitch league in Los Angeles. 18 years ago Rick moved to Ellsworth from LA. He began coaching a 16U summer league in 1998. That same year he began as a volunteer coach at Ellsworth High School for Varsity Softball. In 1998 he started doing pitching clinics in Ellsworth, and that has led to doing clinics for the entire downeast area including traveling weekly to the Machias area. Rick became the Varsity Softball Coach for Ellsworth High School 10 years ago, but has resigned his post this year so that he can work with kids from all over the state of Maine. Rick is currently teaching pitching for several Maine schools as well as working with hitters and fielders. During his coaching career he has had the pleasure of watching many of his athletes continue their softball careers at the college level from Division 1 to Division 3. Ricks students are as young as 8 years old, and some are still pitching in college. Rick brings forth an extreme wealth of knowledge and we are elated to have him as our Lead Pitching Instructor in the Facility!!
