Rachel Martin is in her third year of studying Exercise Science at the University of Maine. She started playing softball when she was nine years old for Old Town Little League. Rachel was a three sport athlete and competed in soccer, basketball, and softball while receiving recognition in all three sports. During her freshman year of softball, Rachel started as the second baseman to help her team win the school’s first state title in 2012. She was named PVC First Team and All- State Underclassmen as a shortstop during her sophomore year. Rachel received “Pitcher of the Year” and “Player of the Year” in 2014, where she helped her team to an undefeated regular season. She received the awards again in 2015, as well as being named to the All-State team and competing in the East vs West Senior Game and Maine vs New Hampshire game. One of her favorite memories is traveling with her team to play at Florida’s ESPN Wide World of Sports during her sophomore and senior year of high school. Her coaching career started in 2017 where she assisted Coach Jenn Plourde at Old Town varsity softball where they won a consecutive state title. Rachel coaches at Sluggers where she helps provide one on one instruction and coaches at clinics.
