Sluggers is thrilled to announce Kathleen Duncan as our newest Softball Coach hire. Kathleen is a former NCAA Division I pitcher and infielder at Harvard University. In 2019 she graduated from Harvard and was a recipient of the Francis H. Burr Scholarship for excellence in athletics and academics. In addition to her outstanding academics, she also excelled on the softball field twice being named Ivy League Pitcher of the Year. Her numerous collegiate athletic achievements are listed below by year. During her career at Harvard, she worked alongside 2022 Women’s Softball Hall of Fame Inductee, Head Harvard Softball Coach Jenny Allard running camps/clinics and recruitment efforts. Kathleen will be working on her Clinical Psychology doctorate at The University of Maine for the next several years. Kathleen will be doing various softball clinics and private lessons at Sluggers throughout the summer.

Named 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America third team… Named Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District first team…Three-time Ivy League Pitcher of the week… Named Ivy League Pitcher of the Year… Selected first team All-Ivy League… Appeared in 34 contests, started 25 and posted a 17-7 overall record with a 2.83 ERA…Notched a 13-2 record in Ancient Eight play… Struck out 107 batters through 161 innings… Appeared in 13 straight games from April 20 to May 18… Tossed a career high nine strikeouts against Dartmouth on April 13… Recorded a five-game win streak from April 13 to April 21… Ranks amongst the program”s top-15 in career lowest opponent batting average, career strikeouts, career wins, career appearances, career starts, career complete games and career innings pitched, and multi-season records, while the sole leader in career saves at 10… Helped Harvard to its second-straight Ivy League Championship, Playoff Series and a berth to the NCAA tournament.

Named to the NFCA Northeast Region third team … Earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors … Named Ivy League Pitcher of the Year … Selected first team All-Ivy … Started 18 of 29 games in the circle … Posted a 14-9 record with a 2.66 ERA, and 78 strikeouts … Three-time Ivy League pitcher of the week … Earned an NFCA top performance after posting a 2-0 mark with a save and an ERA of zero against Penn on April 14-15 … Led the Ivy League in wins … Tied her career single-game best in strikeouts, fanning seven against Southern Utah on March 11 and against Dartmouth on April 21 … Registered a .263 batting average with a .879 OPS (.579 SLG%, .300 OBP) … Slugged her first career homerun against Cornell on March 26.
Sophomore • 2017
Second Team All-Ivy selection … Appeared and started in a team high 28 games and 18 games, respectively … Finished with a record of 9-7 with a 3.48 ERA … Struck out 57 batters in 118.2 innings of work … Pitched a four hit complete game at Penn … Struck out five in a win over Cornell … Tallied seven K’s against Princeton … Threw seven strike outs in a victory at Brown … Struck out five while only giving up one run against Princeton.

Earned a save in first collegiate appearance, pitching three innings, allowing four hits, one run and striking out one against St. Bonaventure (Feb. 26) … Made first start versus Eastern Kentucky (March 5) … Pitched a complete game and struck out three against Brigham Young (March 17) … Garnered first collegiate win, giving up just one hit over six inning at Yale (April 17).
